Migration of home directories / Server Maintenance
Under Construction Posted by Fabian Wenk on Thursday March 02, @02:44PM
from the moving-files-and-doing-maintenace dept.
On Sunday, 5. March, at 15:00 we will start moving the home directories to the new server foostock. This will take serveral hours, during which the home directories (winhome, machome, unixhome) are limited to read only access. We also need to do some maintenance work on the server schibe (group directories and print server), which will also give some interruptions of up to 1 hour during the evening. If everything works as expected this will be finished at around 22:00 and all services are accessible again. Update informations will be posted here.
Read on for more important informations.

Update: 5. March, 18:40: Migration of home directories completed
Update: 5. March, 21:50: Server Maintenance schibe completed
Update: 6. March, 08:15: Reboot of Linux workstations completed

To protect you from losing or corrupting any of your files, it is best to log out before the migration.

Before the move of the files we will stop all user processes on the ISG managed Linux and Mac workstations. After the migration we need to do this once again.

Since we have switched to the generic names for our services, the home directories will still be accessible the same way as before, so you don't have to change anything.

On our managed Linux workstation we also need to install a new kernel, and therefore we will reboot all of them on Monday morning.
