An security update on the server gateway schilt will be done on:

Thursday, February 21th 2008 between 19:00 and 22:00

During the gateway update we will also apply an operating system upgrade on the fileservers foostock, schibe, teutates and tamesis.
Over the entire period access to the following services may be interrupted:

home and group directories (winhome, machome, unixhome, windata, macdata, unixdata, astrodata)
print services
mail services
web services

Please do not run any long running jobs during that time since the file servers won't be reliably reachable during that time. Ideally you shouldn't use any computer which relies on the mentioned services during this time. Especially all our managed workstations (Linux, Windows, Mac) won't be usable.

Additionally we would like to reboot our managed Linux workstations so that we can provide some common features or applications again which are not available with the currently running kernels, e.g. AFS, traditional scheduling or VirtualBox.

If you do not want your workstation being rebooted on Thursday evening after the server upgrades, and don't need any of those currently not available features, please contact us.
