Network downtimes at the Department of Physics
Network Posted by Axel Beckert on Wednesday December 13, @04:51PM
from the last-downtime-of-the-year dept.
During the week before christmas, the Informatikdienste will do software upgrades on many ETH routers. The Department of Physics will be affected by the upgrades in the HCI building on Wednesday, 20th of December 2006, 7am and the HPx buildings on Friday, 22nd of December 2006, 7am. The downtimes will be around 15 minutes each. Please don't use any of the computers during that time to avoid problems afterwards.

Also long-time or regulary running jobs should be stopped or disabled before the network goes down.

The upgrade in the HCI building should only affect astronomy computers (because of the astronomy server tamesis is located at HCI) and the use of some of our backup servers, but it might be good idea to start working not before 7:15am on those two days anyway.
