from the moving-around-some-files-part-2 dept. On Sunday, 15. January, at 15:00 we will start moving the home directories again, this time temporarily to schibe (which also holds the group directories) until we get the new server for the home directories. This will take serveral hours, during which the home directories (winhome, machome, unixhome) are limited to read only access. If everything works as expected this will be finished at around 22:00 and the home directories are accessible again. Update informations will be posted here. Read on for more important informations. Update: Migration completed at 18:40 To protect you from losing or corrupting any of your files, it is best to log out before the migration. Before the move of the files we will stop all user processes on our managed Linux and Mac workstations. After the migration we need to do a reboot of the all ISG managed workstations. Since we have switched to the generic names for our services, the home directories will still be accessible the same way as before, so you don't have to change anything. On the managed Linux workstation we will also install a new Kernel, including the new modules for VMware version 5.5 and also update VMware on the workstations. At the same time we will also install the new Firefox webbrowser, version 1.5. So if you have used any extensions on version 1.0.x then you eventually need to upgrade them also. < | >
