Last night Microsoft has released the Security Bulletin Summary for August, 2005.
There are 3 critical, 1 important, 2 moderate and also 3 rereleased updates.
Users without automatic update activated must visit Microsoft Update to install the Security Updates.
For detailed informations see the following bulletins:
- MS05-038 Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (896727) - Critical
- MS05-039 Vulnerability in Plug and Play Could Allow Remote Code Execution and Elevation of Privilege (899588) - Critical
- MS05-040 Vulnerability in Telephony Service Could Allow Remote Code Execution (893756) - Important
- MS05-041 Vulnerability in Remote Desktop Protocol Could Allow Denial of Service (899591) - Moderate
- MS05-042 Vulnerabilities in Kerberos Could Allow Denial of Service, Information Disclosure, and Spoofing (899587)- Moderate
- MS05-043 Vulnerability in Print Spooler Service Could Allow Remote Code Execution (896423) - Critical
- MS05-023 Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Word May Lead to Remote Code Execution (890169) - rerelased
- MS05-030 Vulnerability in Outlook Express Could Allow Remote Code Execution (897715) - rerelased
- MS05-032 Vulnerability in Microsoft Agent Could Allow Spoofing (890046) - rerelased
MS05-039 seems to be quite interesting. Microsoft discloses rare information but between the lines we see the possible existence of a working exploit. Windows 2000 users should upgrade during this day to minimize the risk of an incident.
