  Two Linux Kernel problems discovered
Linux Posted by Beat Rubischon on Friday May 13, @09:27AM
from the Starzetz-is-good dept.
Two problems were discovered in the Linux kernel. We will reboot our systems in the following manner:
  • Fileserver for groupdrives on Friday night (done)
  • File-, Web-, and Mailserver on Saturday afternoon (done)
  • All workstations on Monday evening (done)
Read on for deeper information!

Paul Starzetz found a problem in all current kernels and talks about an not yet available local root-exploit. 2.4.31-pre2, 2.6.11.9 and 2.6.12-rc4-mm1 are fixed, for 2.4 there is hotfix available.

Another problem was discoveres in Intel's HyperThreading. FreeBSD fixed this issue, Linux is not yet ready and you should switch off HTT in case you are running such a machine.
