You need to run VPN in case of using wireless LAN or accessing protected services like IDES from outside. This is the first step in realizing NETng. The VPN service is out of our control and you should contact the helpdesk in case of problems. You should not expect any problems as long as you don't use specialised software like DCC over IRC, H.323 or any filesharing protocolls.
