Last night Microsoft has released the Windows Security Updates Summary for January 2005 (see the Security Updates Bulletin Summary for January, 2005 for more technical information). There are 2 critical and 1 important updates.
Run Windows Update (with Internet Explorer) on all the Windows Workstations and Servers to install the Security Updates.

For detailed informations about the Microsoft Security Update see the following bulletin:

  • MS05-001 Vulnerability in HTML Help Could Allow Code Execution (890175) Critical
  • MS05-002 Vulnerability in Cursor and Icon Format Handling Could Allow Remote Code Execution (891711) Critical
  • MS05-003 Vulnerability in the Indexing Service Could Allow Remote Code Execution (871250) Important

Once more, only Win2k, XP SP1 and Internet Explorer are affected. It's time to install XP with Service pack 2 and a alternative webbrowser.
