  Linux Kernel Problem
Linux Posted by Beat Rubischon on Friday November 12, @02:12PM
from the linux-2.4.28-rc2-criticalfix dept.
Paul Starzetz discovered a problem in the binfmt_elf loader of the Linux kernel. Kernels until 2.6.8 and 2.4.28-rc2 are affected. We will reboot our servers on Saturday afternoon and all clients on Tuesday morning.

Update: All clients and servers are up to date.

2.6.9 seems also vulnerable. There are also patches for 2.6 and 2.4.

Please track the vendors security information when you are using your own Linux workstation or compile your own kernel.

Even more, the discussion shows that the support for the deprecated a.out format is really buggy. So it would be wise to disable too.
