  Lost a file?
Tip of the week Posted by Beat Rubischon on Wednesday September 22, @08:16AM
from the get-it-back dept.
Who has never deleted or overwritten a file? Lost data because of a computer crash? Hours of work in a project and everything went away... Files stored on our fileservers and mailserver are backed up daily and we offer you an easy way to access them. Read on - you will save a lot of headache in the next desaster.

First of all: only data stored on the servers are backed up. Your local harddrive, your notebook, your floppies are not saved. When you are still working on your local disks, we could not help in case of data loss. Workstations managed by us are automatically connected to the fileservers.

Also E-Mail should be accessed by IMAP or webmail to be saved on the backup.

Backups are done once a day, typically in the morning between 0:00 and 06:00. So you could only restore files from yesterday or older.

Now, what is to do? You could contact us to get the files from the backup. Or you could get them yourself! Just follow the instructions how to access the backups for Windows, MacOS X and Linux, classic MacOS and our managed workstations. The files are stored in a tree labelled with the backup date.

Don't hesitate to contact us when you could not find the missed files. We give our best to get your work back!
