  Virus in your mailbox
Security Posted by Beat Rubischon on Monday July 26, @05:39PM
from the new-variants-in-the-wild dept.
During this day, several exemplars of Mydoom.M or Mydoom.O passed our Virus filter. McAfee and Symantec don't reconise this virus for now. Please don't open any attachements you don't expect.

We counted at least 50 delivered Mydoom today.

The mails contains an attached ZIP, EXE or SCR of about 38 ~ 40KBytes which is only executable on Windows. We did now an update of our virus scanner ClamAV and no more of this type of virus should pass. The second scanner from McAfee didn't find this virus yet.

If you are interested in more details you should read the Netcraft article about this virus. It shows once more that a virus can have some severe effects on the internet.
