from the secure-access-from-everywhere dept. Using the VPN access of ETHZ is a nice thing to use fileservers or journals from everywhere in the world. It's also needed to use wireless LAN in our campus. But on MacOS X 10.3 you will discover some problems. The Cisco Clients 3.7 and 4.0 are not working on top of MacOS X 10.3. Don't install them - you will get several error messages and you need to uninstall the client manually. The incorporated PPTP client of MacOS X don't work out of the box. You need to change a line in a configuration file. A step-by-step instruction is available on Apple's webserver. This approach works nicely but don't forget that the communication between your Mac and the network of ETHZ is not encrypted and you should use only encrypted services.
You need to create a new PPTP connection, servername is vpn.ethz.ch, Account name is your n.ethz.ch login and your password. < | >
