from the apply-your-patches dept. At the Departementskonferenz of April 11, 2003 the department issued its regulations for ICT security. These regulations are available online. The regulations of the department follow the standards defined by the Schulleitung of the ETH which are relevant for all of ETH. The main message is that each device (usually a computer) connected to the internet must have someone who is responsible for its proper functioning. These people have to make sure they operate the computers such that no laws and regulations are knowingly broken. In case of irregularities they make sure the problem is fixed as soon as possible. In order to minimize the risks they keep their systems up-to-date. The official version of the regulations is in German. There is also an inofficial English translation.
